Problem:
Many individuals, especially in underserved communities, struggle to find affordable medical care due to financial, geographic, and systemic barriers.
Even when resources exist, people may not know where to find them, leading to delayed or missed treatment.
Travis County has seen 40% growth in families in poverty but has had only a 5.9% increase in insurance enrollment since 2019.
Rates of chronic illness (asthma, high blood pressure, heart disease, etc.) in people without housing were 1.5 to 2 times higher than in people with housing
About one in six Texans lives at or below the poverty level. Extending healthcare access to the uninsured could improve their overall health by 7 to 8 percent.
