Our Team

Deekshita Sundararaman

Deekshita is a student at the University of Texas at Austin pursuing neuroscience and public health. Deekshita grew up in Austin, where she has volunteered at a variety of venues, including vaccinating underinsured children, aiding the emergency department, and providing blood pressure screenings to the homeless community. Her intimate ties to the city and desire to approach healthcare holistically has allowed her to curate her diverse experiences towards addressing the knowledge gap faced by patients. Witnessing patients’ concerns about where they can find low-cost healthcare services inspired the birth of HealthMaze- a comprehensive database just for that purpose. Outside of academics and her duties at HealthMaze, you can find her singing, reading, and working out.

CO-FOUNDER

Rhea Lazar

Rhea Lazar is a passionate biology major at the University of Texas at Austin with a deep commitment to revolutionizing healthcare accessibility through the intersection of art and medicine. Originally from Seattle, Washington, and having grown up in both Abu Dhabi and Katy, Texas, Rhea brings a unique perspective shaped by her diverse upbringing. After moving to Austin, her volunteer work at local food banks revealed a critical challenge—many individuals were unaware of nearby clinics offering low-cost services or lacked the knowledge to take the first step toward treatment. This realization sparked the creation of HealthMaze, a nonprofit dedicated to bridging the healthcare information gap and empowering underserved communities with the tools to access quality care. When she’s not immersed in her classes, or lab work, Rhea finds joy in expressing her creativity through drawing or staying active on the tennis court.
